"Our son is an honor student but was struggling in AP Calculus. He even considered dropping the course and give up the opportunity to earn University credit. Tutor Doctor was able to bring in more than someone who just knew the material. The tutor was able to connect with our son and immediately started to rebuild his confidence. He stayed in the course and actually began to excel by the end of the quarter! Tutor Doctor has been a blessing for all of us. Shane is back on track and this is one less course we will need to pay for in University." Robin, West County

Tutor Doctor selects tutors based on subject area expertise as well as personality and qualifications. This does not mean that we only hire teachers to be tutors, but we do require experience and extensive knowledge of the subject area they will teach. The beauty of what Tutor Doctor does is that we match tutors to each student based on learning style and personality. In order to appropriately match a tutor with a student, each tutor must undergo a detailed evaluation and interview that also includes a background check.

Aside from having a substantial knowledge of subject matter tutored, we also want our tutors to be able to help students with their study skills. This includes help with:

  • Determining strengths/areas that require improvement
  • Providing motivation and help with time management skills
  • Teaching techniques to improve memory and concentration
  • Assisting with test preparation skills and improved focus
  • Helping with learning to pay attention in class & take better notes
  • Showing how to improve research & writing skill

We are always looking for Math (basic and upper level), Science, Language Arts, History, Reading, Special Needs, ACT/SAT, and Foreign Language tutors as well as other more niche areas and university level coursework.
